Description

The KwaZulu-Natal Province of South Africa is a fascinating region culturally, historically and in its rich fauna and flora. This itinerary takes in the superb berg, cultural, bush and beach destinations on offer to really allow one to experience the best of ‘Natal & Zululand’; the imposing uKhahlamba-Drakensberg (a World Heritage Site), the sometimes eerie but moving ‘Battlefields Region’, the Zululand bush safari, and the Maputaland coastline.

This is a wonderful getaway that takes in a land too often underestimated in the total African journey on offer to the traveler. From the rock paintings, hikes and walks of the ‘Drakensberg’ (Dragon Mountains) or ‘Barrier of Spears’ - a term used by the Zulu people -, through the battles of Isandlwana and Rorke’s Drift, to the bush expanses of Zululand - home to the ‘Big 5’ and some of the country’s finest safari camps -, to the untouched, sun-kissed beaches of Maputaland; where some of the world’s best coral reefs and a kaleidoscope fish life including Dolphins, Shark and Whales can be found, as well as the breeding grounds of the Loggerhead and Leatherback Turtle. This is the land of the Zulu – “the little people of the sky” -, and heavenly it is.
